Kerala Onam Bumper Lottery Result: Ticket number TE230662 wins first prize; FM picks up winner
A lottery ticket sold by an agency in Walayar in Palakkad, with ticket number TE230662 won the first prize in the lucky draw for Kerala’s biggest lottery ticket, the Thiruvonam bumper with prize money of Rs 25 crore for the first prize.
Finance minister K N Balagopal, picked the first prize winner in an event held at Gorki Bhavan here. The Onam bumper, which costs Rs 500 per ticket, registered a record number of sales this year selling 75.76 lakh tickets out of 85 lakh tickets that were printed. A maximum of 90 lakh tickets are allowed to be printed in this category. Last year, when the first prize was increased from Rs 15 crore to Rs 25 crore for the first time, a record number of tickets were sold. Last year, 66,55,914 tickets out of 67,50,000 tickets that were printed, were sold. The first prize winner will receive the prize money after deducting 10% of agent commission and 30% tax from the total prize money.
This year, the Onam bumper lottery by the state lotteries department offers Rs One crore each for 20 persons as the second prize, which was Rs five crore for one person last year. The third prize this year is Rs 50 lakh each for 20 persons, which was Rs One crore for 10 persons last year. The fourth and fifth prizes are Rs five lakh each and Rs two lakh each, respectively, for 10 persons. The redesigning of the prize money was done this year to distribute the prizes to more people, after consultations with the public and the agents.
The government comes out with 13 types of lotteries- seven daily lotteries, and six bumper lotteries, of which the biggest one is the Onam bumper. The government gives as much as Rs 7,000 crore as lottery prize money every year.
