As Ethiopia is a sovereign state, it does not receive any foreign directives on its internal affairs – Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) said in a statement on the allegations leveled against the country by some partners and media outlets that Ethiopia will not accept any foreign directives in its affairs.

He said the Ethiopian government has been responding to the concerns of its partners, adding that some parties have not been able to refrain from their accusations.

He said the development of a democratic and political culture is a domestic process, not an external one.
Some Ethiopian partners have focused on exacerbating the situation rather than understanding and supporting Ethiopia’s efforts to overcome its problems, the statement said, adding that Ethiopia has once again been forced to clarify its position on key national issues.

He said the Ethiopian government has not only expressed its commitment to work with the international community in the region, but has also provided humanitarian assistance to the region without restriction.
In some parts of Tigray State, it was reported that it was difficult to provide support due to security concerns, and the problem has now been resolved.

The ministry said the Ethiopian government is committed to prosecuting the perpetrators of human rights abuses and is working with a team of representatives from the Federal Attorney General and the Federal Police Commission in the Tigray region.
On the other hand, the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission is investigating and reporting other human rights violations, including the unprovoked massacre.

The Ethiopian government is working to create a national consensus, the ministry said. The government is working to ensure lasting peace, freedom and democracy in the country by holding the next national election in a peaceful, transparent and credible manner, the ministry said.

The statement said the Ethiopian government could deploy security forces anywhere on the Ethiopian border without any foreign intervention to uphold the rule of law.
